They seem to have gotten rid of the previous tendency to insert <br> tags after table rows (I'm trying 0.9). I tried loading in a nevow template (nevow.com) and changing it a little to make sure NVU wouldn't munge it. Of course it doesn't "understand" the special nevow tags, but it doesn't seem to mess with them, either.
