As soon as I get better networking set up, I am going to set my kids up with a k12ltsp type setup. They will run diskless. Less things for them to break. I have taught the elder how to properly shut off his computer (ctrl-alt-f1, ctrl-alt-del) and when he turns it on (all the UNIX die hards are going to squeal ;) it comes up in X with his login already logged in! Yep, Windows 3 technology :) I had a lab at work that was half diskless workstation (sun rays). I felt they worked well. No one else did.
