No, their Xserves are G5's, just like the PowerMac line.

If this were really the case, the Apple rumor sites would be on it like white on rice, and Apple would be suing anybody and everybody saying things like this.

This doesn't convince me of anything. In the first place, Andrew Neff is an "Analyst". In the computer industry, this generally means he has no talent to *do*, so he *writes* about what others do. And most of his job is to make up crap when he can't find his usual sources on their usual stools in their usual bars.


In the second place notice this line at the end of (non)story:

"In accordance with new regulations, Bear Stearns disclosed to c|net that it owns shares in Intel."

So, yeah, I give a lot of credibility to that story.
