They keep doing it because they keep getting away with it. M$ is better than a cardiac surgeon at burying their mistakes. Remember the PC Jr with the chicklette keys? Of course you don't! They use one of those memory wiping flashy things from MIB. Their business model is, nobody else is allowed to get big, even if we have to lose a lawsuit (Stac Technology, the Justice Department). If no one else gets big, then we'll always be big. They don't care if they lose money or cause the technology in question to die out.
