And Apple _dominates_ the "coolness" factor. Apple products *look* like
they've been designed by talented and artistic engineers. Even the packaging
is cool.

I'm sorry, but Apple products look liek they were designed by a child toy designer. They look like something coming out of Fischer fucking Price. I would put the Windows 1.0 GUI ahead of the Mac OSX GUI in terms of usability and looks- its just that damn bad. Give me ANY other window manager in existance, *please*.

All the GUIs are pretty much incestuous anyway; apple just does it
without making it feel like something from Fischer-Price.

Umm, wow. You're the first person I've ever heard of who thinks that non-apple guis look like fp. Big ugly buttons and shiny thing to click are the invention of Apple, not anyone else.

The BSD underpinnings attracts the geeks.

Not play at lemmings. They're playing the "be different" card.

Which means they're attracting lemmings. The lemmings who all want to do something to "be different" yet amazingly manage to do the same damn thing as everyone else to do so.

And they now are getting more into music and video.

A music player is a music player is a music player. They won't get any converts away from windows media player or winamp.
