But a bill announced last week by Sens. Arlen Specter, R-Penn., and
Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., goes far beyond reasonable data security
precautions. It amounts to a crackdown on individuals, bloggers and
legitimate e-mail list moderators.
Those two senators are constantly trying to be the senators that get it
when it comes to the digital age. They usually want to enact draconian
acts that will jail someone for copying a file as long as a murderer, or
at the very least take everything they own. What they do get, is that
there is not control on the Internet, and the cost of entry is so low,
they have no influence to affect how people behave.
How do they "get it" when they introduce something like this ?
