A few things I'm interested in:
1)Internationalization - how do locales really work, and how can I switch
between
them easily? Or quickly and easily re-map the keyboard to use foreign fonts?
2)Multimedia formats - I get confused about all the codecs and formats.
Usually I'm
confronted by this when I want to try to set up a DVD player and have to guess
at
sound and video codecs.
3)X window system overview - There are several components and technologies that
have
entered X since I started with Linux. For example, I really don't understand
where
frame buffers are desirable, whether they are better or worse than going without
FBs. Or... where do the various extensions and rendering components fit into
the
big XFree/X.org picture?
