Besides the old Orinicos, are there any other
wifi PCMCIA cards that are actually autodetected

I need to rebuild
the madwifi module for this Athereos wifi
card everytime I upgrade the kernel in this Fedora
Core 2 laptop.
Is it too much to hope that newer Debians and
Fedora Cores come with this driver already
so I don't have to make the module all the time?

I use a Netgear WG511 card which uses the Prism GT chipset. It is
autodetected on the Debian-based systems I run (Mepis, Kanotix), as well
as SuSE from 9.0 on. (Sorry, I've never installed Fedora on a laptop.)
The only configuring I have to do is the encryption.
