It seems to have no Linux/UNIX client at all. It does come with source, and the 7z compression is under the GPL. Is it possible you downloaded a Windows client that had the RAR (non-free) format, and that i what is giving you the excellent compression? Also, are you aware of any UNIX clients that do support 7z?
