If this is all true then I think Microsoft is really about to go to war with Google.

What I wonder is, will that war give cover for Linux to continue on its rapid evolution without Microsoft specifically focused on Linux. After all Linux isn't a business model that competes directly on a product by product basis as Google is positioning itself to do in next generation apps and the emerging app server space.

I've always thought that companies that Microsoft targeted as competitors found themselves in an intense fight to survive as a business but Bill Gates just enjoyed the competition like a street fight, and the competition never knew what hit them. It appears to me BG's dander is up and he's ready for another street fight and Google, unlike Novell, Sun and even IBM, is a street fighting SOB just like BG is...

If Linux can stay on the sidelines this could be fun to watch...
