I have had unsatisfactory results with the low-end DVD burners sold at
Fry's (Emprex, BTX). They tend to produce "coasters" and sometimes fail
to recognize a CD or DVD.
I spent just a little more money for a Sony ($89, before a $30 mail-in
rebate, also at Fry's). I have burned several DVD's and CD's with it and
am quite pleased with the results.
