KDE or Gnome? What distribution? Both KDE and Gnome have startup
directories similar to the Windows startup folder. In KDE it's
located at /home/user/.kde/Autostart . You could check there. If
Evolution is not being used you could just uninstall it.

I can't believe I didn't mention that, duh! It's FC3. But IIRC, this evolution thing started popping up in rh9. And when I installed FC3, I copied /home right over the top and set up the users the same so I wouldn't have to fuss with ownerships.

I think Gnome. Both are available on that PC. I know that she has experimented a lot with anything she fancied playing with. But then again, I told her it was safe to do so. I told her that she couldn't hurt anyone elses accounts and to do whatever she wished to try. I don't have the computer in front of me, although I do have a fairly recent copy of that hard drive. I mounted that partition and went to that user's home directory and did this:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] user]# du -a | grep -i "auto"
32 ./.openoffice/user/config/autotbl.fmt
4 ./.openoffice/user/autotext/mytexts.bau
8 ./.openoffice/user/autotext
8 ./.openoffice/user/autocorr/acor1033.dat
12 ./.openoffice/user/autocorr
4 ./.openoffice/share/autocorr
4 ./.kde/Autostart/Autorun.desktop
4 ./.kde/Autostart/.directory
12 ./.kde/Autostart
[EMAIL PROTECTED] anon]# du -a | grep -i "start"
4 ./.config/menus/start-here.menu
4 ./.gnome-desktop/starthere.desktop
4 ./.kde/Autostart/Autorun.desktop
4 ./.kde/Autostart/.directory
12 ./.kde/Autostart
[EMAIL PROTECTED] user]#
