Yes. In a former life as a submarine officer, I helped gather data for
producing charts. I also have a healthy respect for how difficult it is to
get it right. Most people seem to think that GPS is the solution to
everything, conveniently ignoring the fact that a 30 foot error at the
channel entrance means that you run aground. Also, GPS doesn't work
underwater. We have other ways of navigating when submerged.
