Music can certainly be purchased in mp3 or ogg formats. Both can be burned to cd for use in ordinary cd players. Newer units can play mp3 and/or ogg directly. Problem with purchasing music in lossy format, is that if you go to unencode it back to a .wav for burning to cd, the sound quality will still only be as good as the original mp3/ogg. > 2.
