I'm entering the computer music ans sound world maybe 8 years late :*)

I have read that modern CD players can directly play mp3's, but I have
no idea how to burn them onto a CD so that the player can so do. I've
been converting them into wav's (lame --decode) and making CDs from
those with excellent results, but the advantages of the compressed
format can't be ignored.

What are the tools and front ends for creating straight, playable, mp3
CDs?

TIA,
