Dell switches are netgears painted black with the Dell logo. I don't
trust netgear equipment much further than I can throw it: that is, i'll
use it (reluctantly) for some things, but if I'm going to do anything
serious I'd like to see in place a Cisco or Foundry switch, as they're
definitely the cream of the crop both in features and quality.
You may be able to get away with HP ProCurve switches -- they're
reasonably priced (and come with a lifetime warranty, to boot). Problem
is, the backplanes on them aren't capable of what HP says they are, so
you have to beware if you're looking to saturate them.
If you want, I could put you in touch with a Cisco partner to get some
quotes on equipment.
talk to you later,
