fortunately, i remember some static on the kernel mailing list a few
years back about it -- it may be supported. google for conexant winmodem

I have two external faxmodems floating around the computer room somewhere,
and I used them straight out of the box with FC2 before I switched to DSL. I
can't make it to the meeting thursday, but I'll find one and bring it to the
Saturday installfest if you can make that.
