I run one Abit BP-6 based dual Celeron 500 server round the clock. If I take my wife out to dinner it can run me $50 for a single dinner. I have no problem with $30 for a month's worth of running a server. My question is where are the 1,500 KWHrs of electricity being used in a home where there are only two people living and they are at work 1/3 of the time? See my other post for what I typically run at home.

Good point. But, take it one step further and compare them to LED based
bulbs. Not the LED's in a modem but direct plug-in replacements for
incandescent bulbs:

You might find them to be a bit pricey but they are now at the price
Compact Fluorescent lamps were at a few years ago. My electric bill for
last month was over $300. I just filed a complaint with the CPUC, again.

How many computers? I have found that each additional computer I run
24/7 adds about $30 to $40 to my monthly power bill. So I stopped
doing that.
