Why LTSP?
That is a good question. There is no inherent need to run LTSP
specifically. The goal is just to try to find a use for all of these
machines which are underpowered by the standards of todays software.
With people throwing away USB drives and compact flash and DVD readers
so pathetically cheap, a LiveCD system is both more robust and more
reliable than an LTSP system. It also doesn't require a hard drive.
Unfortunately the kind of hardware people donate for free can't really
run a LiveCD worth crap. And even if you do run a LiveCD you generally
cannot save your work. You could use a USB drive for something like that
but now we are getting more complicated.
