Linux *still* sucks. Start with Ubuntu ... easy distribution of the gods ... snort. Tried to install. Lots of errors on device. Check web. Grumble. Crappy external drive that only works with Windows (and that poorly). Okay, not the fault of Linux. Purchase new enclosure.
I had problems with Ubuntu (the latest version 6.06 iirc) on my laptop, the live CD ran great, but when I installed it...It installed fine, but when it booted up for the first time I had no GUI. Ubuntu sat at an orange red colored screen and did absolutely nothing. So Suse 10.1 it had to be. Then, I tried Fedora Core 5 on my desktop and it ran great, except for one thing, I had no mouse pointer. I did a little research and found out that Core 5 and the NVidia drivers wouldn't peacefully coexist and there was no fix at that time. So Suse 10.1 it had to be yet again. So yeah, sometimes Linux does suck...If I'm too stuck, Slackware is always a good fallback for me....It sure beats windows... -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
