Great. Now I have to figure out what to do.
So far, I installed Knoppix to a partition on my laptop and downloaded a
bunch of stuff from Gutenberg.org.
Does anybody have ideas as to what mostly naive educators would benefit
from learning about these projects?
How to get free books, many of them classics, from Gutenberg. They have
.iso files for DVD and CD collections and will subsidise your giving
them away. That is, they'll pay for the disks. They may also provide art
work for labels.
Teach them how to use the links provided by Gutenberg to their own sites
and affilliated sites that provide free downloads of literature in a
variety of formats that include books and music.
If you can afford to get their little reading robot, show the educators
how easy it is to mark up text for reading in multiple voices.
You should be able to do most of this with only a browser.
