I'm quite tickled that, as I type this, I have Debian Etch installing onto the newest member of my household network, a Linksys NSLU2. It's the size I wish my wallet was (with cash, not receipts), and yeah, it's USB2 (boo! where's my firewire?), but it is, nonetheless, the smallest, quietest, most useful (usefullest?) computer I've gotten in a long time. Oh, and it cost me $55.
I'd heard for a while about running linux and/or enhanced firmware packages on this little device for a couple years now, but my quest for reducing noise and heat in the office (and power consumption, if only by a little bit) recently got the better of me. I fully expect it to be able to take over all my household duties for Samba, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, subversion, running an iTunes server (mt-daapd) and a couple other goodies (I like having a unix shell at home I can get to, for instance).
If I can get it working with a USB2 hub, I might even turn it into the home print server, and finally be able to print from the notebooks without having to turn the windows PC on first. :)
Linux can be so useful. :) Gregory -- Gregory K. Ruiz-Ade <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> OpenPGP Key ID: EAF4844B keyserver: pgpkeys.mit.edu
