LOL. I should be more familiar with Linux than I am. I had heard of
egrep, but never encountered it. Nor did I know that grep could not
perform such a contortion. But surmising that \| meant something like
OR in a search, it seemed obvious that you gave me a command sequence
based on something other than bash. That conclusion was perhaps wrong,
but the OR conclusion was not.
