Different materials are more opaque to certain frequencies than others. There are many variations on this experiement: http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/tutorials/article.php/1431101 Look around you'll find more. Are you experiencing interference from other radios in the area ? Are you and your neighbors all on channel 6 ?
