svn with apache isn't really a browser interface. It works just like
regular svn except you use https:// instead of svn:// or ssh+svn:// but
you are right in that svn+ssh is probably a better idea. I'll look into

for me" is defensible.
That I didn't know that it wasn't a browser interface is yet another
example of how I push all that port 80 stuff out of my mind. And I'm not
being coy when I say that I've got to get over that.
Browser interfaces have their limits, but they do have a great big
advantage -- they are (well,..) browsable. Even a poorly designed
interface will usually make its content discoverable in a more-or-less
intuitive way.
Now, whether a web interface is right for "doing" things -- that's
another discussion, eh?
I quite like viewvc (http://www.viewvc.org/) -- this used to be called
viewcvs, in cans that rings any bells.
