Yup, but you don't want to get one of those things near a DLT or LTO tape, as you'll irreversably destroy the tracking and blocking information. Not a good thing. You also probably want to keep them away from DDS (DAT) tapes, as those also store formatting information in the first couple blocks of the tape.

So, if you have any intention of reusing the tape, keep the bulk eraser away! But, as far as blasting the data is concerned, yes, a bulk eraser is the way to go if you want to make sure nobody ever reads that tape again. :)
