Quoting David Looney <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

There have been glitches with compatibility with specific programs which
have led me to compile or install the 32-bit x86 executables and remove
the 64-bit version, but I don't think I've seen the opposite problem (a
32-bit program wouldn't work). Of course if a program is looking for
some older version of a specific library, it might be disappointed with
what's there. Older versions of Java InstallAnywhere punk out, e.g., I
think because of issues with libc version. But this is true on 32-bit
machines as well.

Note that as of SLES/SLED/Opensuse/Code/etc 10... they have dropped all support for non-NTPL programs. This is very likely what is being run into.

This is one thing that is going to be a big frustration for us as we already have our EDA ISVs asking for when we're going to support SLES10, but we still need to support versions of tools going back a couple years at least, and those old ones won't work on sles10.

If Microsoft made cars instead of software, the seats would force everyone
to have the same size butt.
