I'm dealing with an old Red Hat 7.3 machine that's been using NIS for
authentication. The NIS server is going to be retired... there's a
Windows AD server that we use now via LDAP. I know... :-) This mostly
works pretty well. On this one machine, though, after inputting my
username I wait about a minute for the password prompt to appear, and
then another good minute or two for a command prompt.

After I'm logged in, everything is fine. This machine is on a different
subnet than the AD server and the NIS server. There are other servers
on the same subnet that are able to authenticate to the LDAP server OK,
so I'm doubting it's a network issue. There are other Red Hat 7.3
machines that are OK, so I doubt it's an issue with a specific
RPM-installed file, although this or the other machine smight have
received/not received a particular update.

Any suggestions?
