I guess there were no good native German words for system and software.
Novell appears to have simplified the situation for our Manichean
American simplistic souls and made it SUSE. OK, now I don't have to
remember which letter to drop (I never could and dropped the E half the
time).
I finally figured out that SuSE was capitalized by the same scheme as
NeXT. And I already had spent several years learing how to wiggle my
fingers while typing NeXT.
While at a show, I found out from their reps that the correct
pronunciation is SU-sah. Yes, short A, not "ee".
