Short answer: If you are not cursing at CVS, you probably want to switch
up to SVN, if you can.
While *you* may see little difference between the two, most new open
source projects are using SVN or something else. SVN is, by far, the
current "default" choice.
Therefore, it's best to learn it since it will be the dominant tool for
quite a while. Even those projects that use something else normally
provide a SVN view.
