I just used yum a couple of days ago. But now it doesn't work. I went
into yum's repository info files and loaded the URLs in my browser
(replacing $releasever with 4) and they all come up to the same page
that essentially says "Look over there instead."
How do I get yum working again?
Up until the release of FC6 yesterday (or late the day before?), yum was
working ok for me on FC5.
Now, I get messages like:
Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: core
I think it may just be "out of service" for a while. Since FC6 was just
released, the repository mirrors may be overwhelmed or trying to ignore
anything other than what they think is their highest priority.
I have seen the repos get screwed up before (with this same error
message), and come back to normal in a couple of days. That's what I'm
counting on.

The yum .repo files list URLs like this:
http://fedora.redhat.com/download/mirrors/fedora-core-rawhide
http://fedora.redhat.com/download/mirrors/fedora-extras-$releasever
(which on my system yum translates to):
http://fedora.redhat.com/download/mirrors/fedora-extras-4
