Famous last words,

I thought this would be easy ...

All I want to do is get a "simple" comandline email client
going. Just fetch messages from a POP server. How hard
can that be.

Well if you have no idea what you are doing it can be
a lot harder than you expected.

For some reasonn that eludes me I cannot get
fetchmail to play with postfix.

Here is a snippet of what seems to be the best
diagnostic I have.

Oh BOFH have mercy. What can I do to fix this.

fetchmail: POP3> UIDL
fetchmail: POP3< +OK
fetchmail: POP3< 1 GmailId10e82434095d35eb
fetchmail: POP3< .
1 message for testlw at pop.gmail.com (998 octets).
fetchmail: POP3> LIST 1
fetchmail: POP3< +OK 1 998
fetchmail: POP3> TOP 1 99999999
fetchmail: POP3< +OK message follows
reading message [EMAIL PROTECTED]:1 of 1 (998 octets)
fetchmail: SMTP connect to localhost failed
fetchmail: POP3> QUIT
fetchmail: POP3< ---------- Forwarded message ----------
fetchmail: SMTP transaction error while fetching from
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and delivering to SMTP host localhost
fetchmail: 6.3.2 querying pop.gmail.com (protocol POP3) at Wed 25 Oct
2006 06:41:31 PM PDT: poll completed
fetchmail: Query status=10 (SMTP)
fetchmail: normal termination, status 10
Done.

ps ax shows postfix/master running before this but
gone afterwards if that matters.

Tell me what configs to send and I will comply.

TIA,

BobLQ
