My god, he doesn't know what "socialism" means!

Okay, I have a better response:

If it's not socialism, then what do you call this ideology that cause
one to ask first, "What does society get out of it?" rather than, "Is
it right for the individual?" What ideology is it that makes one say,
"If we tweak the law just so, it'll cause content producers to not
rest too long."

And whatever it is, it is *that* ideology that depresses me. It
depresses me that there are people who view themselves and their
neighbors as ends to the means of "society" and "culture". For
christ's sake, we either have a right to our creations or we don't.
And if we don't, then once we give it away we have no right to tell
people what they can do with it. None of this society-planning crap.
Each and every one of us act first as individuals, and we are members
of society second. When we act as individuals, we *must* ask what is
right for us to do and what is wrong. "Neighbor" is only one of the
many things we do as invdividuals.

I was responding to this:

If the goal is to encourage further artist production, it should be long
enough to create some revenue for the artist but short enough that
it doesn't let the artist rest for a too significant span of his life.

Government's role should not be to encourage production.
