Personally, I'd rather we burned all the corn (in the form of fuel) rather than eat it. Corn is one of the main contributors to the nearly epidemic increase in obesity in this country.

So, to me, if corn costs more to eat, I don't care. I'll just eat less of it.

As a funny anecdote, my grandmother Jeannie (who immigrated from England just after WWI) liked to tell a story about her first supper with her new in-laws in Massachusetts.

At the table, she was served corn on the cob. Very indignant, she asked "What is the meaning of this? Is this a joke?.

Her confused in-laws didn't understand. "What are you talking about?" they asked.

"I mean, why have you put corn on my plate? How dare you!" she replied.

"Well, to eat, or course. What is the problem?".

"Because where I come from, one only feeds corn to pigs and I will not be insulted in this fashion. I am _not_ a pig".

Eventually, it was all smoothed out and my grandmother quickly became quite fond of corn, especially on the cob. But it's a good reminder that some of the rest of the world has a lesser opinion of the value of corn as a food.
