Helix realplayer 10 works OK. No error when run from command line.

No error message when running firefox from the command line. If you
actually download the html to which the link points, you can then find
the actually movie file url:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sciencenow/video/nsn-wrap-i-flip.mov

When you try to play that with mplayer you get:

Cannot find codec matching selected -vo and video format 0x20666976

If you follow the downloaded html reference to the xml file, and search
for Maya, you come up with:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sciencenow/video/3401-03-lo-ref.mov
or
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sciencenow/video/3401-03-hi-ref.mov

If you fire up mplayer, you can then open this URL directly and play it
(though mplayer complains about not being able to resolve the IP6 address).

I think it's the wrappers and indirection that's screwing things up.
