The link that blq posted said something about work underway to do something in user-space (FUSE?) because of the conflict in licenses. It was remarked that FS's in userspace suffer (in several ways, I imagine). But perhaps if a userspace port succeeds as proof-of-concept, then someone will figure out a way around licence issues, so that it can be considered for support within the kernel.
