OK, Cox fixed the cable, but I can't get all the channels through Myth
even when I
- delete the capture card and make a new one
- run mythfilldb (or whatever it is)
- attach the cox input to the card with either scan (which only sees the
broadcast 4 - 13) or fill from listings.
Funny thing is, under watch tv, I get some new ones like 2, even though
when configuring Myth says that I shouldn't start at 2 because it doesn't
exist.
Also, I say "default frequencies" in the source set up ... maybe that
should be us-cable. Say what?
Use us-cable for the frequency selection since that is what you have.
The default is for over-the-air broadcast which is different than what
you have.
Also there is textual garbage in the display of _some_ channels that had a
bad scan in a previous iteration.
I deleted the email (Alan I think) that had the incantation to rebuild the
data base. It was done automagically in the MythDora install and it didn't
leave behind a copy of the script, so I'll have to dig it out.
Could someone remind me of the incantation to build the data base, please?
DO NOT SCAN FOR CHANNELS. It will totally screw you up.
You shouldn't need to rebuild the entire database, just reset the part
that deals with channels.
1) Stop mythfrontend and mythbackend
2) run mythtv-setup
3) choose option 3, Video Sources
4) Delete all video sources
5) Create a new Video Source
6) Set the parameters as:
XMLTV Listings grabber: North America (Data Direct)
User ID: <your_name> Password: <your_password>
Then select "Retrieve Lineups". That will go out and get all your
channel listings.
Channel Frequency Table: us-cable
Finish
7) Select option 4, Input Connections
8) Associate the Tuner 1 with the video source create previously
9) Finish and exit
10) Restart mythbackend and mythfrontend
11) Test and report results
