If you go into something like that knowing what they're going to do, and
happy with what they're going to charge you for it, great. But some of
those places charge thousands of dollars and try to convince people that
they have some special, magical ability to erase all negative items off
of your credit, and it simply isn't true. If someone has bad credit,
there is no firm in the world that can "fix" that.

When I first started paying attention to my credit, there were a number
of issues... items that belonged to my Dad (not negative, but
misleading... how could I have had a credit card in 1969, two years
before I was born? :-) ), addresses that had nothing to do with me, etc.
It took a few minutes of my time to write a letter to them reporting the
inaccuracies. A few weeks later, they send me a corrected report. I
looked it over, and had to ask for a couple of changes again. I
wouldn't have paid much, if anything, for someone to do that for me.

BTW, did you get my email about Cogent bandwidth? I'm not sure I sent
to the right address :-)
