I'm completely naive about VoIP, but is this a way we can go? Would it avoid or reduce charges? Is it something we can set up and test in the three weeks we have? Are there HW investments? Will the Hoyas take it all in the Final Four?
Skype is free (as in beer), works well, and has a Linux version. It could work well for a webinar-type scenario, as it allows conference calls. I'm not sure I completely understand your setup, but it sounds like there will be one remote presenter that will be talking to a room of people. In that setup, hardware requirements are minimal. A headset for the presenter, some speakers and a microphone for the group, and a computer on each end. For the group, you will likely have to actively manage the mute state on the mic to minimize echos (ie, mute the mic unless someone is actively asking a question). -- Rick -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
