This is an interesting construction. The spring that holds the heat
transfer pad to the CPU has three (my hand to god) copper tubes running
from it to a comb-like radiator that the fan forces air through. I figure
the tubes are empty and just transfer heat by conduction. But it looks
like refrigeration tubes.

Because I losened the spring clamp, I figure the pad lifted and the grease
contact was broken ... needs refreshing.
