'vi /usr/dict/words' maybe? Search for "dict" somewhere on your filesystem.
Unless things have changed in the past few years,
/usr/share/dict/words is used as a source to build the database for
the spell checker. But it is not used in normal operation.
Your own personal spelling dictionary might be in $HOME/.aspell.conf
