Extortion.
Gates never had any problem stealing software from others or
infringing. Anything in his favor he can get away with is fair game in
his book. He sees the momentum of Linux overtaking him and he's pulling
out all the stops to subvert it any way he can. (I wouldn't be suprised
in the slightest to find out that a good chunk of his code is copied
directly from open source.)
He is the most clever extortionist in history.
