it comes up, has an IP, I can ping localhost, ethtool says yup, link at
100MBit but when I ping anything outside I get "unreachable".

I know this sounds awful, but does ndiswrapper work with non-wifi..?
I have a Marvell Gb Ethernet chipset on my Asus laptop, which FC6
detects and configures just fine. There may be differences in models. I
know that chipset was problematic in both Linux and Windows when it
first came out.
