When was the last time most home users installed *any* OS? Most users
never see an installation and don't even know what the phrase "Install
the operating system." means. They buy a computer from Dell, HP, Fry's,
the little shop on the corner and it comes with the OS (whatever it is -
usually Windows) installed. If it ever breaks, they take it back and get
it repaired, or buy a new computer with a new OS installed.

Most users can't even use a web browser let alone do an OS install, no
matter what the installation program looks like.

Many home users can't install an office suite either. Again, they buy
the computer with it installed. When they want to install one after the
fact, they often get help.
