Speaking for J. Sixpack, I totally agree.

A home network should be as simple as possible[0] ... otherwise you'll go
crazy. I don't use DHCP or even yp -- I keep everything in sync by hand.
It's easier in the long run. And a central log server ... it is to laugh.

[0] Of course, part of the reason to have a HOME NET IS TO EXPERIMENT AND
LEARN, SO IF THE TASK IS TO UNDERSTAND CONFIGURING A LOG SERVER, GO FOR
IT.
