All-in-all, I prefer traditional device ids for myself. First thing I do

I usually prefer device ids also but loather and I are both dealing with LOTS of disks and lots of volumes that are all potentially visible over a SAN so any one of them could possibly be mountable by another. This means you need a way to keep track of everything and you need to make sure the wrong thing doesn't get mounted in the wrong place or that the same volume does not get mounted by two machines at once. In that situation I can see labels coming in very handy.
