so, TV over fibre to your doorstep plus intarwebz access for under $100 with no yearly commitment? Sounds like it's too good to be true (which means it usually is). Do they offer a static IP service?

^^^^^^^ --- Customers. Don't admit to being a consumer. If you're willing to pay a little more to get a little more (read: if you understand the concept of, "you get what you pay for"), then, you're not a consumer. Don't confuse the two. And, don't let the big companies treat you like a consumer. In the ideal world, companies would be competing for your business with quality products, instead of compromising quality for price (which is what they currently do now).

The only problem I see with this is who is offering the service: I'm loath to do business with AT&T. I feel like every penny I spend with AT&T is somehow making me feel dirty -- like buying a copy of windows or something. I don't like feeding large monopolies. If only a not-so-evil company would release such a service ...

... alas, I think the days of the customer being the most important asset to a company have long gone.
