I tried to upgrade my laptop from FC4 to FC6. Everything seemed to work
fine, but when I boot, I get an error such as this:
unmounting old /dev
unmounting old /proc
unmounting old /sys
WARNING: Can't Access
exec of init () failed: no such file or directory
So far I've tried changing several things in grub.conf and fstab, and
have been googling for similar problems and fixes, but I still have had
no success. Anyone seen this type of problem before?
The message sounds to me like the transition out of initrd failed.
I wish the "Can't access" warning were more explicit! :-(
Tell me about it. My first response was "Access what?! WTF is that
supposed to tell me!?"
Google does show some hints that this may be xen related.
I probably saw the same Google results as you're referring to. Except
that I'm not running Xen.
Can you post your grub.conf, and the output of fdisk -l ?
Unfortunately, no. My server is down with a HDD that won't respond to
the SCSI Start command. My workstation has a HDD or P/S problem, and
this laptop either runs W2K or a broken FC6 install. Maybe I can mount a
USB flash drive so I can transfer data from one OS to the other.
