1) Install Debian. (sorry, I had to) 2) write a suspend wrapper that unloads the USB drivers; suspends; then loads the USB drivers upon resumption. I had a similiar problem with the wireless network adaprter on Fedora Core 5. I had used the second solution, then I used the first solution and I cannot begin to tell you ow happier I am for doing so.
