Yes. I agree with this. It could also be done on the server
side ... they after all have your input.

In fact I have had this very idea under active discussion
for several months now with my Buddy Brad Collins who is
deply inot this and the mre general problem of metadata for
the web and beyond.

Note that to some extent the social bookmarking sites like
del.icio.us are starting to provide a mechanism for alternative
ratings of sites. This data could easily be gathered by search
engines and used as yet another ranking mechanism.

Just as a test I tried "sailboats" Google and del.icio.us
returned very different results. Google also sugested on
try

Searches related to: sailboats

used sailboats types of sailboats small sailboats
catalina sailboats
sailboat pictures sailing yachts boats

However "diabetes" both returned the same top site.
The home page of the American Diabetees Association
http://www.diabetes.org/home.jsp

"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather scornful tone,
"it means just what I choose it to mean - neither more nor less."

"The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean
so many different things."

"The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master -
that's all."
Through the Looking Glass.

Found as top hit in Google. Search string was
"alice in wonderland mean what I say it means word"
